Recycling - BLUE BOXES
General Information

JULY 1st - RECYCLING SCHEDULE - CANADA DAY COLLECTION FOR THE AREA OF L'ORIGNAL IS CANCELLED ON JULY 1st, 2010.

All containers must be clean.

1 . GLASS BOTTLES AND JARS
Recycle all glass, food and beverage containers. Remove and discard lids and caps. Rinse containers. It is not necessary to remove labels.

DO NOT INCLUDE: other types of glass, such as dishes, window panes, light bulbs and mirrors.

2. FOOD AND BEVERAGE CANS
Rinse aluminium and steel cans. Place loose lids in the cans and pinch the top to trap them. It is not necessary to remove labels or flatten cans.

DO NOT INCLUDE: aerosol or paint cans, frozen juice cans (unless alI metal), metal pots or other metal products.

3. NEWSPAPERS AND INSERTS
Tie or place in a bag all newspapers, flyers, catalogues, magazines, telephone books and hardcover books. Place these on top or beside your blue box.

4. PLASTIC CONTAINERS (PET) #1
(Code located on bottom of container). Soft drink or juice plastic containers. Remove and discard tops and rinse containers.

5. PLASTIC CONTAINERS (#2) and ALL PLASTIC SHOPPING BAGS
(Code located on bottom of container). Javex, fabric softener, spring water and juice containers. Remove, discard tops and rinse containers. Plastic shopping bags (Zellers, A.&P., Canadian Tire, etc.) are now acceptable. Insert all bags into one, do not leave loose in blue box.

DO NOT INCLUDE: oil and toxic product containers, foam plates and cups, plastic film or plastic tops.

6. CORRUGATED CARDBOARD
Flatten boxes and tie in a bundle. Bundles may be placed on top or beside the blue box.

7. BOXBOARD
Flattened cereal boxes, soap boxes, rice boxes, etc. are now being accepted in the blue box. These must be clean, empty and free of all plastics and metal bands and tied up in bundles.

Gable top cartons are accepted(i.e. milk, orange juice, drinking boxes, tetra pak)

8. BROWN PAPER BAGS
Brown grocery and shopping bags are recyclable.

9. FINE PAPER
Fine paper, office paper, computer paper and coloured paper.

10. ALUMINUM TRAYS AND FOIL
Include clean, rigid foil containers such as pie plates, fast food trays, etc., aluminum foil paper is also acceptable.

DO NOT INCLUDE: aluminium trays or foil, soiled with food scraps or grease. No foil with paper or plastic lamination, no butter, candy, cigarette wrappings or yogourt lids. No metallized plastic chip boxes.
