St-Gregoire-de-Nazianze Church

Our parish under the direction of father Gilles Marcil will be participating in the Doors Open Ontario program on September 16th, 2006. Attached please find a brief description of our church and the schedule of events for the day.

Father l’abbé Routhier, parish priest for L’Orignal and the mission in Vankleek Hill, initiated the construction of St-Grégoire-de-Nazianze church. In 1876 the church was designed the Gothic style by John Chishom of Vankleek Hill. With its frescos, hand carved benches and stained glass windows, St-Grégoire is to this day one of the more remarkable churches in the diocese. A special feature is the statue of Christ’s Resurrection carved in hardwood by local artist Louis Séguin.
