Due to the pending retirement of the incumbent and the re-structuration of this position, the Municipal Council
is seeking a qualified, dynamic and organized individual for the position of Administrator/Clerk-Treasurer to
ensure the effective management and leadership of the affairs of the Municipality.
Several of these functions, responsibilities and aptitudes required of the successful candidate are as follows:
- to act as the senior policy advisor for the Municipal Council and to prepare appropriate reports and briefing documents for consideration by Council, its committees and for various government ministries;
- to ensure the integrity, the efficient and effective overall financial administration, the overall budgetary process including all taxation matters and their appropriate policies; and
- to direct and supervise the activities of all Department Heads and to ensure to the efficient and effective delivery of services.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be fluently bilingual and have excellent communication, human resource management and
problem-solving skills.
Candidates should preferably be in possession of the AMCTO designation or is recognized and/or certified by a
provincial association(s) involved in municipal administration. The individual should hold a post-secondary
education in public administration or similarly related fields of study and have a minimum of five (5) years
experience in local government. The successful candidate must have a strong accounting and financial
background.
The 2008 pay structure range is from $83,296 to $95,743 depending on qualifications, experience, skills and
knowledge. The Municipal Council may further adjust the maximum pay structure to $108,202 based upon
superior qualifications including future performance evaluation. The Township of Champlain also offers an
