The Council of The Corporation of the Township of Champlain will hold a Special meeting on March 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Champlain Township Municipal Office at 948, Pleasant Corner Rd. Significant Weather Event Declared

Champlain Township, March 11, 2026 - Significant Weather Event Declared

Due to a hazardous weather alert issued by Environment Canada for March 11, 2026, the Township of Champlain has declared a Significant Weather Event.

This declaration temporarily suspends the timelines normally required under the Minimum Maintenance Standards for winter operations. Municipal crews will continue maintaining roads and sidewalks; however, it may take longer than usual to restore them to normal conditions.

New Building and By-Law Service Hours

Please note that as of March 30, the Building and By-law Department in L'Orignal will follow the same hours of operation as Town Hall in Vankleek Hill Hours of Operation:

• Monday to Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (open during lunch hour)

• Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (open during lunch hour)

This change will help simplify service hours and make it easier for residents to plan their visits. Thank you for your understanding.

Road Closure – Higginson Street, VKH

Take notice that Higginson Street is currently closed at Milner Street. Barricades have been installed and there is no access at this location, including for emergency vehicles.

This closure is in effect indefinitely.

Access to the new subdivision must be made via Farmers Avenue from Main Street East.

Residents and motorists are asked to plan their travel accordingly and follow posted signage in the area.
