Flags to half-mast

Flags at Champlain Township Hall and Construction Building have been lowered to half-mast to honour the victims in the tragic shooting in Nova Scotia.

This symbolic gesture expresses the solidarity of the members of the municipal council, municipal employees and the entire population of the township towards the communities affected by this terrible event.

Our hearts go out to the families of the victims as well as to all residents of Nova Scotia in this tragedy.

FIRE BAN IN EFFECT IN CHAMPLAIN TOWNSHIP

In order to ensure public safety and well-being during the evolving COVID-19 outbreak, the Township of Champlain has issued a ban on open air fires in the Township of Champlain and will not be issuing fire permits until further notice. CAMP FIRES and BURNING IN A CONTAINER are permitted.

This is a proactive action to reduce the number of preventable human-caused fires and to limit non-essential calls for service during the COVID-19 outbreak...

Update: Collections

Due to COVID-19 and in consideration for the health and safety of staff and residents, the collection of household hazardous waste and the spring garbage collection have been postponed until further notice.

For these same reasons, the landfill remains closed until further notice. We know this can pose an inconvenience to some, but remember that it is temporary due to exceptional circumstances. Canada is facing the novel Covid-19 virus and the impact on the economy is significant. Covid-19 is affecting household income of Township residents as well. The water and sewer billing for the period of January to March is usually due around the 15th of April.
