Champlain, October 11, 2018 – Highway 34 / Connecting Link Project is progressing very well. The intersection of High Street (Highway 34) and Main Street (County Road 10) will be re-opened this Saturday October 13 at 12:00 noon.  However, they will be no trough traffic on Highway 34 North and South between Methot Street and Main St intersection to do the underground work.

Municipal Elections in the Township of Champlain will take place for the offices of Mayor and Councillors (2) in three Wards – L’Orignal, Longueuil and West Hawkesbury for a four (4) year term.

Recycling collection in L'Orignal

Due to circumstances beyond our control there was no recycling collection yesterday in L'Orignal.

We apologize for this situation.

Be assured that recycling will be picked up next week according to the usual schedule.

Public meeting: Retail business Holiday

The Council of the Township of Champlain is considering passing a by-law which would permit all retail businesses to be open on certain statutory holidays.

As per Section 4 (6) of the Retail Business Holiday Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.R.30, the Township must hold a public meeting in respect to the proposed by-law and permit any person who attends the public meeting the opportunity to make representations in respect of the proposed by-law.
