SPRING ROAD CONDITIONS

The spring season has arrived, bringing with it pothole and road maintenance issues.

While we have had less snow than in winter’s past, the frequent swings in temperature have contributed to deteriorating conditions that we now see on many of our roads, particularly on gravel roads.

Environment Canada is forecasting a general freeze-thaw cycle for the next 7 days as well as the potential for 10 to 20 mm of rain starting this evening and lasting through to tomorrow, March 10th. An additional 10 to 20 mm of rain is also possible at the end of this week, starting Thursday, March 12th.

COVID-19 Spam Alert

We have been informed by the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management that a spam email claiming to be from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is circulating stating the COVID-19 virus has spread to victims’ home cities and inviting people to click a link for an updated list.

The email purports to be from the CDC, but uses an email from a domain other than cdc.gov and includes misleading links that lead to a different site when clicked (see picture).

Notice of Overnight Snow Removal Operations

Please be advised that overnight snow removal operations will take place in Vankleek Hill on Tuesday March 3rd, 2020 starting at 7:00 pm.

We understand that overnight work can be disruptive to the residents due to the extra noise of the equipment, however daytime snow removal operations increases risk and cost as pedestrian traffic and parked vehicles pose an obstacle to snow-clearing activities, making it dangerous for both maintenance crews and the public....
