Flags Will Fly at Half-Mast in Champlain in Honour of Chief Marcel Huneault

Champlain, July 12, 2021 — It is with a profound sadness that the Township of Champlain has been informed of the passing of Marcel Huneault, former fire chief, on June 17.

Mr. Huneault began his career with the Township in 1967 as a volunteer firefighter for L’Orignal Village and rose through the ranks to become Fire Chief. Marcel served his community with honour and pride from 1967 to 2007.

Given the current circumstances, a private memorial service will be held at the St-Jean-Baptiste Church in L’Orignal. A guard of honour formed by firefighters, employees and council members will be at the exit of the church to show their compassion to Huneault’s family members. A L’Orignal station Fire truck will escort the funeral procession from the church to the cemetery, this morning at 10:30 a.m.

Council members, all staff and citizens of the Township of Champlain are united to offer their most sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Huneault and to assure their support in this difficult time.
