Mission
To recognize, protect, preserve and promote – through research and conservation projects as well as through interpretative and promotional activities – the historic, cultural and natural heritage assets of the Village of L’Orignal, as well as those in a tract of land once known as the Seigneurie de Longueuil. Both target areas are now part of Champlain Township.
Objectives:
-
To safeguard the historic, cultural and natural heritage assets of the Village of L’Orignal, as well as those in the tract of land once known as the Seigneurie de Longueuil, and to communicate this heritage through a variety of media for the benefit and enjoyment of present and future generations.
-
To research available documentation and undertake new research in order to better understand, document, preserve and interpret the historic, cultural and natural heritage of L’Orignal and area.
- To ensure dialogue between Patrimoine L'Orignal-Longueuil Heritage and all partner organizations, both public and private, at the local, municipal, provincial and/or federal level, to maximize the outcome of all joint projects and achievements undertaken.
-
To encourage participation by residents of L’Orignal, Longueuil and all of Champlain Township in community-based heritage activities – and in the resulting cultural, economic or social spinoffs of benefit to the region.
