Champlain, December 3, 2024 – The Township of Champlain lit up with holiday cheer on Friday, November 29, as the annual Champlain Christmas Parade dazzled the community. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., the parade brought festive magic to the streets, winding through Stanley Street, Higginson, Derby, Main Street, Home Avenue, and concluding at St. Grégoire School.
With over 30 organizations participating, the parade featured an array of spectacular floats, walkers, and even animals, each contributing to the enchanting atmosphere. This year’s event was made even more memorable by the first snow of the season, which set the perfect stage for the holiday celebration.
Hundreds of attendees, some traveling from Lachute, St-Bernardin, Hudson, and beyond, gathered to experience the Christmas spirit. The Champlain Christmas Parade proved once again to be a must-see event, a true highlight of the holiday season.
Mayor Normand Riopel shared his pride in the event:
"The Champlain Christmas Parade is a shining example of what makes our community so special. The energy, creativity, and dedication shown by local businesses, organizations, and volunteers are truly inspiring. This parade brings us all together, fostering a sense of joy and unity that embodies the holiday spirit. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this incredible event."Sydney Collard, Director of Parks and Recreation, echoed this sentiment:
"We could not put on such a successful parade without the amazing participation of local businesses and organizations who put an incredible amount of time and effort into their parade floats. I would also like to highlight the participation of certain Champlain Township employees, who all played a role, from ensuring a safe parade route to handing out goodies to parade spectators. Again this year - a special thank you to Melanie, our lovely Recreation Coordinator, who does a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes leading up to the parade.”
The Township of Champlain extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made the parade possible, including the businesses, organizations, and dedicated staff members who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
As the community reflects on the joy of this year’s parade, excitement is already building for the 2025 edition. Thank you to all who contributed to making this year’s Champlain Christmas Parade a magical evening to remember!
