A Christmas Letter from your Mayor - 2024

Dear friends and neighbours,

As the holiday season unfolds, I find myself reflecting on the swift passage of time.  How quickly the months can pass before we realize that the end of the year is upon us once again.   It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming the first green growths in our gardens and enjoying the warm sun on our sandy beach. Now the twinkling lights of the holidays are already brightening our town. Although the snow has yet to blanket our streets, the spirit of the season can be felt in the buzzing of our holiday community events, bringing joy and holiday cheer as we prepare to gather with family and friends to celebrate and reflect on the passing of another calendar year.

If I have but one wish for you, it is to remember to take time for yourself over the next month and savour life’s small joys: a kind word from a friend, watching a classic movie favourite with your family, or the comforting aroma of a holiday meal. It’s in these seemingly simple moments that the true magic of the season resides.

Let us also remember to extend patience and kindness to one another. In the hustle and bustle of the season, a smile or a helping hand can make all the difference.

I encourage you to support our local businesses as you shop for gifts and gather your holiday necessities. These small businesses are the heartbeat of our towns, run by neighbours who are dedicated to serving our community.

Finally, may you cherish this time with your loved ones. Whether you’re gathering for holiday traditions or creating new ones, these moments are precious. In the end, it’s not the decorations or the presents that matter most—it’s the love we share and the memories we create together.

On behalf of the entire township Council, I wish you a joyful, peaceful, and meaningful holiday season. May the coming year bring us all health, happiness, and opportunities to grow together as a community.

Merry Christmas and warmest wishes.

Normand Riopel, Mayor and Members of Council
