Champlain Township to Host Christmas Parade

Champlain Township, September 22, 2022 - After several years of successfully organizing the Vankleek Hill Parade of Lights, Excellent Events has turned over the Christmas Parade to the Township of Champlain. The Township is very excited to organize this event and to bring it back after a two-year absence. The parade will not change its date nor its route. It will take place on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 6:30 p.m., depart from the Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute (VCI) and proceed on Perreault Street, along Highway 34, and then on Home Avenue, Stanley, Higginson, Derby, Main Street East to finish at the streetlights of County Road 10 and Highway 34.

“When Samme (Putzel) first contacted me to indicate that she was not putting on the parade this year, we didn’t think twice about whether or not we should take over the parade. This is a highly anticipated event for the community, and after a two-year absence, we believe it’s important to bring it back!” explained Zoe Fortin-Larocque, Communications and Economic Development Specialist and also appointed Community Events Coordinator.

“The Parks and Recreation Department will be working closely with Zoe to put together an amazing parade. It’s a great team effort, joining forces and experience, to provide a wonderful evening for everyone. Families can look forward to colourful characters, impressive floats and much more,” said Lisa Burroughs, Director of Parks and Recreation.

This parade is not possible without the support of partners and, of course, lots of floats! Friends, families, local businesses, community groups, and entertainers are all invited to participate and help us bring the holiday spirit to life. We have plenty of creative people in our Township so let’s take this one to the next level.

Applications to participate in the Champlain Christmas Parade are now being accepted for floats, walking groups and marching bands. Organizations wishing to participate in this great celebration are invited to fill out the online form. Registration is free and a great way to showcase their community involvement.
