Flags Will Fly at Half-Mast in Champlain in Honour of M. Guy Desjardins

Champlain, July 5, 2021 — It is with profound sadness that the Township of Champlain has been informed of the loss of Mr. Guy Desjardins, Mayor of the City of Clarence-Rockland, on July 3rd. Council members, all staff and citizens of the Township of Champlain are united to offer their most sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Desjardins and to assure their support in this difficult time.

Municipal Councillor since 2006 and Mayor since 2014, Mr. Desjardins was a man of vision who wanted to see the counties grow. Mr. Normand Riopel, Mayor of the Township of Champlain, would like to recognize Mr. Desjardins’s involvement in the development of his community: “Mr. Desjardins was a respectful gentleman, an honest person, who loved people, a man who will be greatly missed at the Counties’ table. I would occasionally ask him for advice on certain points of view in the United Counties, we could always count on his honesty. He would often say to me ‘You young man, stay calm’ and we laughed a lot! ”.

Mr. Desjardins leaves behind his wife Aline, his daughter Tanya and his sons Christian and Jason.

Township flags will remain at half-mast until the day of the memorial service to mark the Mayor’s passing.
