New Director of Public Works

NEW DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS

Champlain, June 7, 2021 - The Township of Champlain is pleased to welcome Sebastien Levesque as Director of Public Works. Reporting to Paula Knudsen, Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Levesque will provide leadership and strategic direction to a portfolio of operations services to maintain and enhance the Township’s transportation infrastructure, water and sewer services, facilities and dry waste disposal site. The Director plays a key role in ensuring service delivery is provided in a customer focused and efficient manner to achieve standards established by Council and provincial legislation. He will also be responsible for ensuring integration with other departments, manages risks and protecting the municipality’s assets.

The new Director of Public Works succeeds James McMahon, who has accepted new challenges in the private sector after 14 years of loyal service. "We wish Mr. McMahon the best of luck in his new position and thank him for his loyalty and dedication over the past years "said Normand Riopel, Mayor of Champlain.

Sebastien Levesque, born and raised in Longueuil, Quebec, holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and has worked in the engineering field for many years, notably as a process engineer and quality manager at PPG Industries from 1993 to 2007 and as a continuous improvement lead and project manager for the new WebGen product at Orica for the past 14 years.

Levesque’s hiring was made official at the May 10, 2021, Champlain Township Council meeting for a May 26 start date. The entire staff of the Township of Champlain welcomes Mr. Levesque and wishes him success in his new position!
