New Location for Arbor Gallery

Vankleek Hill, November 29, 2024 - When it reopens on January 16 after a holiday break, Arbor Gallery will be operating out of a new location in Vankleek Hill.

For 30 years, the Gallery has been situated at 36 Home Ave., also known as Higginson House. As of January, it will be located at 103 High St.

“The Gallery has had a long and storied history at Higginson House and our team is very aware and respectful of the memories many have of the building. But the need for renovations to the structure have required us to look for a new spot,” says Artistic Director Andrea Belcham. “We are very pleased to have found a site that is still central to town, with ample parking and a fully accessible washroom and entrance!”

Belcham emphasizes that the new building’s contemporary, neutral interior will be an excellent backdrop for artworks on display. 103 High St. includes two exhibition rooms so that, each month, the Gallery can continue to offer both a main exhibition and two feature members in the Arber Project.

Indeed, much of the Gallery’s distinctive programming will continue at the new address, including concerts, pop-ups, workshops, artist networking opportunities like Chai and Chat, and other outreach events.

“This is a big change for all of us,” says the Gallery board chair, Jessica Sarrazin. “Higginson House deserves some love and attention in the form of renovations, after all it has provided to the community over the years. Our programming has become increasingly popular in the community, and we're excited to welcome everyone to our new space!”

Arbor Gallery will be closed from December 16 to January 15, reopening on January 16 with an exhibition of Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute students’ works. For Gallery hours and other information, visit www.arborgallery.org.
