Champlain, December 4, 2023 - The 2023 Champlain Christmas Parade held on December 1st in Vankleek Hill was another great success. This is the second year that Champlain Township hosts the annual Christmas Parade and it did not disappoint. Over 200 people and 40 floats from local businesses and organizations participated with their lit-up and creatively decorated tractors, trucks, cars and trailers to share in the joy that the season brings. Although most would have preferred snow to rain, the wet weather did not stop the community at large from coming out to ring in the month of the most wonderful time of year. Young and young at heart packed the streets along the parade route in anticipation to see all the impressive floats and catch a glimpse of Mr. and Mrs. Claus who closed the end of the hour-long parade.
"We are thrilled at the turnout and the support the parade has received from the participants and the community. It is such a joy to see the sparkle in people's eyes as they watch the decorated floats drive by. I want to express my most sincere gratitude to the entire Champlain team and especially to Mélanie Larivière, the Recreation Coordinator, for the time and dedication they spent in making sure this would be an unforgettable event," expressed Sydney Collard, Director of Parks and Recreation at Champlain Township.
Champlain Township would like to thank its partners, community organizers, and parade participants for their contribution in making this event a success. A special thanks to École élémentaire catholique Saint-Grégoire for their generosity in offering their location as the end destination of the parade.
For those who did not get a chance to witness the parade in person, a live-streamed video was taken of the parade and can be viewed on our Facebook page.
