Brief Summary and Timeframe |
In February 2022, two major capital fundings for its aging arena in Vankleek Hill were announced to the Township of Champlain. At 45 years old, the arena slab is beyond its lifespan and needs to be replaced. This will ensure its ongoing availability to the many local ice user groups, and will avoid the added costs of emergency replacement. Furthermore, the capital funding received will also allow for other important upgrades to be made to our beloved arena that will further make for a more inclusive, healthy and safe environment for everyone. All groups that use the arena were notified quickly of this great news and relocated to other facilities. Timeframe The Vankleek Hill Community Centre closed on the last day of ice on March 31, 2022.
