Municipal Boat Launch
Status: Open from April 16th until October 31st
Location: 772 Front Road, L'Orignal, ON
Access: Free access for everyone - for small boats
Located at L'Orignal Municipal Park, the boat launch allows boaters to get their small boats into the water. It's a simple, quick and efficient way to practice your water sports! There is no charge for lauching, but there is limited parking. Due to heavy current, rocks, and shallow water, experienced boaters recommended.
The municipality also offers parking for vehicles and their trailers at the top of the hill. However, please be respectful and share the parking with the users of L'Orignal beach.
Please be careful when boating on the Ottawa River, there can be a lot of traffic on the river on weekends. Also, the swimming area of the beach is located near the boat launch, so please leave the dock slowly.
The gate is open 24 hours a day during the summer. The dock is installed in the spring when the river level is at the right level. In order to ensure the safety of all, we ask users to respect the following rules:
- Swimming, diving, and fishing from the docks are prohibited.
- No boat storage.
- Mooring a boat at night is prohibited.
- Boats cannot be moored for long periods of time. The time limit is 15 minutes.
- Please share the waterway with human-powered boats (canoe, kayak, paddle board, etc.).
- Respect the navigation rules and navigate at a reasonable speed.
- Under no circumstances will the Township assume any civil liability attributable to users.
If you wish to report a problem or a concern, please fill out an online Service Request. To propose an improvement to the boat launch, fill out the Service Request, select Parks & Recreation, Library, Daycare, select Parks, green spaces, beach, boat launch and recreation Department and make sure to check Proposal of improvement projects in the Type of Request.
Marina
Location: 69 Wharf Street, L'Orignal, ON
Riverest Marina is located on the Ottawa River, half way between Ottawa and Montreal. Riverest Inc. is owned and operated by local entrepreneurs whose goals are to promote the development of tourism in our community! Their mandate is to operate the marina on behalf of the Township and the Federal Government, who still have ownership of the land. Services currently offered include dock rental, gas station, washroom, WIFI access, boat launch, pumping station and laundry rooms.
