Integrity Commissioner

The Township of Champlain has appointed an Integrity Commissioner in accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001. The Integrity Commissioner is an independent and impartial official responsible for overseeing the application of the Council Code of Conduct and providing guidance on ethical conduct and accountability matters involving Members of Council and certain local boards.

Role and Responsibilities

The Integrity Commissioner provides independent oversight regarding:

  • The Council Code of Conduct
  • Codes of conduct for local boards
  • Ethical conduct policies and procedures
  • The Municipal Conflict of Interest Act
  • Advice and guidance to Members of Council and local boards regarding their obligations
  • Education and information for Council members, local boards, municipal staff, and the public

Code of Conduct Complaint Process

Complaints regarding alleged breaches of the Council Code of Conduct are reviewed by the Township's Integrity Commissioner, as appointed by Council.
