Reporting to the By-Law Officer, the school crossing guard ensures the safety and well-being of all pedestrians as they cross a street near primary schools in the territory of the Township of Champlain. The person is called upon to work Monday to Friday between 7h30 and 9h00 in the morning, and between 14h15 and 16h00 in the afternoon.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze the environment to determine the danger zone, assess and stop traffic safely.
- Accompany children and direct their movements to ensure they safely cross the road.
- Give safety instructions to children and ensure they are respected.
- Control unsafe behaviour of children during the crossing of the street.
Qualifications
- Bilingualism (French and English)
- Knowledge of traffic and safety rules
- Responsible, punctual, cautious, and vigilant
- Excellent visual and hearing acuity
- Physical condition necessary (standing work)
- Autonomy
Required Education and Experience
- Having one (1) year of relevant experience with such clientele, an asset
- First aid training, an asset
Working Conditions
- Hourly rate of $27.24
