The 2026 Municipal and School Board Election will be conducted using secure Internet and telephone voting. This page provides information about voter eligibility, voter registration, voting methods, accessibility services, and resources available to help you participate in the election.
Who Can Vote?
You may vote in the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election if you:
- Are a Canadian citizen;
- Are at least 18 years of age on Election Day;
- Reside in the Township of Champlain; or
- Are a non-resident owner or tenant of land in the Township of Champlain, or the spouse of such an owner or tenant; and
- Are not prohibited from voting under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 or any other applicable law.
Note: You may only vote once, no matter how many properties you own or rent in the Township of Champlain. If one of them is your residence, this must be the address you use for voting as your "Qualifying Address".
Are you on the voters' list for the upcoming municipal election?
Find out if you are on the voters' list by contacting the Elections Office at Town Hall by phone or email before 8:00 p.m. on October 26, 2026. Voters are encouraged to verify that their name and personal information appear correctly on the list.
Applications for additions, corrections, or deletions to the voters' list may be made by completing and submitting Form CH1 [PDF/193KB], available at Town Hall. Proof of identification is required.
The deadline to submit applications for additions, corrections, or deletions is October 26, 2026 (Election Day). If your information is not updated and you are not properly listed, you will not be able to vote.
School Board Support
Please ensure your school support information is correctly recorded on the voters list.
Your school support designation determines which school board trustee appears on your ballot.
How to Vote
Voting will take place using secure Internet and telephone voting.
Eligible voters may cast their ballot between:
October 21, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
and
October 26, 2026 at 8:00 p.m.
You will receive your Voter Information Letter in the mail with voting instructions.
Important Notice
Tampering with election-related mail is a criminal offence and may result in imprisonment for up to 10 years. Improper voting, corrupt practices, and voting irregularities are offences under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 and may result in a fine of up to $25,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both.
Suspected election offences may be investigated by the Ontario Provincial Police. Questions or concerns should be directed to the Township Clerk's Office.

The Township of Champlain is divided into four wards. Your ward determines which Councillor candidates may appear on your ballot.
- Ward 1 – Vankleek Hill
- Ward 2 – L'Orignal
- Ward 3 – Longueuil
- Ward 4 – West Hawkesbury
What Offices Can I Vote For?
All eligible voters may vote for one candidate for Mayor.
If an election is required in your ward, you may also vote for up to two Councillor candidates. You may choose to vote for one candidate, two candidates, or fewer than the maximum number permitted.
Candidates elected by acclamation do not appear on the ballot.

Voter Help Centre
Voters who require assistance with the voting process may receive support at the designated Voter Help Centre, located at Town Hall, 948 Pleasant Corner Road East, Vankleek Hill.
The Voters’ List will continue to be updated through the Voter Help Centre until the close of voting on Monday, October 26, 2026 at 8:00 p.m.
