New Director of Infrastructure Appointed

August 12, 2026, Township of Champlain - Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Marc Legault as Director of Infrastructure. With nearly 30 years of municipal experience, Mr. Legault brings a wealth of knowledge in public works and infrastructure management. He spent his career in municipal service, first with the Village of St. Isidore and later with the Municipality of The Nation, holding several leadership positions within the Public Works Department. From 2003 to 2026, he served as Director of Public Works, overseeing municipal infrastructure and the delivery of essential services to the community.

“We are pleased to welcome Mr. Legault to our team. His extensive experience, strong leadership, and deep understanding of municipal operations will be tremendous assets to the Township. He will also play an important role in supporting knowledge transfer and preparing the next generation of leaders within the Infrastructure Department,” said Mayor Normand Riopel.

As part of Council's commitment to succession planning, Mr. Legault will help foster the transfer of knowledge and expertise, ensuring the long term strength and continuity of the department. 

“Infrastructure and public works have always been at the heart of my career. I am excited to join the Township of Champlain team and share my experience while supporting the next generation of municipal professionals,” said Mr. Legault.

Council would also like to recognize and thank Sébastien Lévesque, Municipal Engineer, who has provided interim leadership since May 2026, as well as Travis Katz, Public Works Supervisor, and Chantal Jodouin, Public Works Administrative Assistant, who assumed additional responsibilities to support the department during this period. Their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to public service helped ensure the continued delivery of high quality services to residents.

Through this appointment, the Township of Champlain reaffirms its commitment to strong infrastructure leadership, effective succession planning, and the delivery of reliable, high quality services to the community.
