Champlain, February 12, 2026 - In recognition of the tragedy that occurred in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, on February 10, 2026, the Township of Champlain has lowered the flags at all municipal buildings to half-mast, in accordance with the national guidelines for half-masting the National Flag of Canada (Sections 10 and 16).

Due to the ongoing shortage of de-icing salt, our Public Works team will be using more sand on rural roads this winter. Salt will still be applied within village limits, so roads there remain treated as usual. Thank you for driving carefully and adjusting for road conditions.

Ontario Invests $1.5 Million in Critical Water Infrastructure in the Township of Champlain

Champlain, February 9, 2026 — Today, MPP Stéphane Sarrazin met with Mayor Normand Riopel to announce that the Government of Ontario is investing up to $1.5 million in the rehabilitation of water infrastructure in the Township of Champlain.
