Champlain Township, September 10, 2026 – Champlain Township continues to invest in succession planning while strengthening its municipal team, with several employees stepping into key roles across the organization. Ryan Alexander has joined the Township as Deputy Director of Infrastructure, Adrien Tremblay as Planning Advisor, and Karine Tardif will begin her new role as Deputy Treasurer at the end of September.
“Investing in our people is one of the best ways we can prepare for the future,” said Normand Riopel, Mayor of Champlain Township. “We are creating opportunities for employees to grow while also bringing new expertise into the organization.”
Deputy Director of Infrastructure
Ryan Alexander joined Champlain on September 8. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Ottawa and began his professional career with The Nation Municipality as Infrastructure and Asset Management Coordinator.
Ryan will work closely with Marc Legault, Director of Infrastructure, who brings more than 30 years of experience in municipal infrastructure and public works.
“I’m looking forward to growing into the role and working closely with Marc,” said Ryan. “Having the opportunity to learn from someone with more than 30 years of experience is incredibly valuable as I continue to develop within the department.”
Planning Advisor
Adrien Tremblay joined the Township on August 24 as Planning Advisor.
He completed a master’s degree in urban planning in 2026, in addition to a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science. His previous experience includes work in land management with the City of Québec and in territorial development with Quebec’s Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know the community and working directly with residents,” said Adrien. “What I appreciate about a smaller municipality is the opportunity to be accessible, involved and close to the projects that matter to the community.”
Deputy Treasurer
At the end of September, Karine Tardif will take the next step in a career with Champlain Township that began in 2016.
Over the years, Karine has held almost every position within the Finance Department, giving her a thorough understanding of the department, its responsibilities and its day-to-day operations. She also holds a diploma in Small and Medium Business Management and has completed additional training in municipal finance throughout her career at Champlain.
“Having worked across so many areas of Finance has given me a strong understanding of both the work and the team,” said Karine. “My priority will be to support the team, improve efficiency where we can and continue working closely with the Treasurer to ensure sound financial management.”
Building the Team for the Next Chapter
For Acting Chief Administrative Officer François Turpin, these appointments are helping put a strong management team in place for the Township’s next chapter.
“These appointments reflect the Township’s commitment to succession planning and developing internal capacity,” said François Turpin, Acting Chief Administrative Officer. “By building a strong team today, we are positioning the organization for continued success in the years ahead.”
The Township is also investing in the next generation through Marie Léa Gauthier, a communications intern who will be with Champlain until Christmas. She will support the Township’s communications and social media management while gaining hands-on experience in a municipal setting.
